Wangkiny Boodjah Pre-Sustainability Program

The Wangkiny Boodjah Pre-Sustainability Program is an intensive course designed to prepare Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students for their first year in the Sustainable Development major. The course is designed to assess the suitability of applicants wishing to study in Sustainable Development. Applicants will develop strategies and techniques to handle the pressures and routines of university studies. The course offers an intensive pre-sustainability education and university orientation, and will also place an emphasis on university study skills, including writing, reporting and analytical skills.

The units and components of this course will be:
Study and library skills - learning to draw on library resources and to think critically and creatively about sustainability; presenting ideas in reflective, formal and oral ways
Personal experience - consider sustainability in one's own life, culture and community
Theory and practice - exploring key ideas and state-of-the-art practices in sustainable development
Excursions - visiting various centres and sites that showcase or practise sustainable development, as well as cultural and historical places of interest.
